Hadpac Respite Service Respite A social and recreational program for individuals with a disability who live at home with a carer who is in need of respite. Hadpac Day Program Day Program Provides a day or evening of recreational activities each week for adults with a disability. The group-based programs operate on a leisure and recreation base. Aiming to achieve community integration and participation through various recreational activities. NWDS Post School Programs Community Participation Program assists young people with moderate to high support needs who require an alternative to paid employment or further education. Transition to Work Program. Is a two year program that supports school leavers with a disability to develop skills that will assist them to moved to employment, vocational education and training, or higher education. Individuals participating in the above programs are assisted to establish their own Person Centered Plans and programs are designed to achieve individual goals. A high emphasis is placed on skill development in a supportive and safe environment. Where appropriate work experience is sought to meet each person’s goals and interests. Aims: To assist individuals with a disability to create links with Leisure and Recreation options of their choice within their local community. Enabling them to diversify their skills whilst moving towards independent participation. Staff support and assist the individuals with a disability to identify potential Leisure and Recreation opportunities and then provide support to assist the individual to access their chosen Leisure or Recreational activity within their local community. The service assists the individual to develop the necessary skills to identify and fully access the chosen recreation option. A key component of the program is to encourage a healthy and balanced lifestyle, and also aims to provide an opportunity to increase their social network with people of similar ages and interests. Attendant Care - NEW PROGRAM 2009
North West Disability Services is an Attendant Care Provider with the Life Time Care and Support Authority. The Lifetime Care and Support Authority is a statutory Authority established by the Motor Accidents (Lifetime Care and Support) Act 2006. Attendant care assists the participant to perform tasks they would normally be able to do for themselves. Attendant care services include personal assistance, domestic assistance, community access, gardening and home maintenance services, child care services and educational and vocational support. Flexible Respite - NEW PROGRAM 2009 Flexible Respite aims to assist in maintaining and supporting relationships between the person with a disability and their carer.Flexible Respite is an ADHC funded program which provides at least 168 hours of respite. The program may include: * Individualised programs * •Community access / out of home respite • * In home respite *• Centre based / weekend program *• Group activities• * School holiday program •* Overnight / evening • * Camps Community Support NWDS receives and greatly appreciates the ongoing funding and assistance from individuals, businesses, community services organisations, and a wide range of community groups and volunteers. Volunteering NWDS greatly appreciates the contributions made by individuals who donate their time to enrich the social life of individuals accessing the service. The need for volunteers is great and we encourage all members of the community to join us in providing a quality service. Volunteers can assist in many ways at varied times. All volunteers are offered a training course and opportunities for ongoing skill development. Individuals are welcome to join our voluntary, community based Board of Directors or the various sub-committees that operate to enhance services. Volunteers can also assist with admin duties and support programs in activities, outings and short holidays.
